Rockrose Boarding house, Mattias Kvick

“My mother works in the kitchen at Rockrose Boarding house. We live there all summer. Mom cooks and dishes while I have summer vacation. ”
This is how the story begins and where Algot one day finds a lovely, yellow dress in an old cupboard in the boarding house. He puts it on and calls himself Beatrice because it feels good.
“Mom looks at me and asks if I want to be called Beatrice. I say I want that. And that I want to keep the dress if I can. Mom smiles and says I can do that. Then we toast with the ice cream together as my mother and I sometimes do when we have decided on something. ”
But perhaps this is mainly a story about the difficulty of finding a real friend, learning to play the harmonica, unexpected friendship, and finding a place where you have to be. Maybe a place where you even avoid playing, if you do not want to, even though you are a child.
